My blog was tuned out at the WHL trade deadline due to the Legionnaire broadcast from Tisdale. There's enough other great blogs over there on the right. You were well informed!
But anyway...here's what went down in Broncoland....
****
The Broncos shipped F Mike Brown to the Tri-City Ams in exchange for a 2011 fifth round draft choice. They then catapulted the draft pick directly to Kelowna in exchange for 18-year-old F Kyle Verdino.
The Broncos and Rockets are very familiar trading partners, having hooked up for a large number of deals the past few years.
Earlier, I pegged Verdino as a defenseman. Actually, he's listed as a left winger but apparently he's also very good at playing defense.
If the Broncos choose to play him on defense this move will add some much needed experience on the back end. The only other 18-year-old on the blue line is Joel Rogers.

The Legionnaires lost 8-4 to the Tisdale Trojans this afternoon.
It was a disappointing loss and weekend alike. The sought after playoff position is now even further away from the Legionnaires than it was to start the two-game weekend.
Trailing 4-0 after 20 minutes, they locked things down in the second and scored two to bring it close. But everything exploded again in the third. The game featured a few fisticuffs and the third period ejection of head coach Regan Darby.
The Legionnaires will play the Regina Pat C's this Tuesday at the i-Plex.

One other note....
The Bantam Kabos Raiders erased a 2-0 deficit and surfaced with a 5-4 shootout win in the final game at the Greater Saskatoon Bantam Invitational. Full marks to the Raiders for winning the tournament.
