Swift Current Midget AAA Home Hardware Legionnaires training camp gets underway tomorrow at Credit Union iPlex. 75 players will attend the camp and try to impress new coach Dale Vossen and his staff. The first on-ice sessions will get underway at 12 noon.
The Legionnaires, a team with a very storied recent past, will try to build upon last year's playoff appearance, their first in eight seasons. Dale Vossen takes over as head coach after being hired this summer. Larry Empey will assist Vossen behind the bench.
Golden West Radio's Shawn Mullin conducted an in-depth interview with Vossen yesterday for SwiftCurrentOnline.com. You can find the interview audio in it's entirety by clicking right here.

For myself personally, I should have much the same role with the Legionnaires as last year. I'll travel with the team and provide live audio webcasts of as many road games as possible. As I'm sure you know, a handful of SMAAAHL rinks have their limitations when it comes to connectivity. Also, my work schedule has not been known to show mercy, so wether or not certain games are broadcast will be determined on a game-by-game basis.
I'll also take care of music and public address announcing for all home games. The one other item that's been discussed for this year, is video webcasting of home games with rink audio. I've found that parents and family have suggested that a lot, since Swift Current is in the extreme southwest corner of the province and it's so difficult for many of them to make it here for weekday games. That however, is still being looked into. We'll see if it can be made to work.
More than a month still remains until the regular season, so the fine details have yet to be ironed out. Meanwhile, I hope to see you at the rink this weekend!
